If you read this blog, you know I love designer collaborations with discount retailers. I love to buy and put away things for my little girl and occasionally find things that I like for myself. Will certainly be buying some of the Jason Wu for Target that hits store February 5th. My favorite items (that I will buy for my daughter) are the dresses that look both prim and fashionable.
These dresses remind me of another important topic that I have been meaning to touch on, AGE APPROPRIATE CLOTHING FOR YOUR TWEEN. I have spent time with a lot of my friends’ children who are in that awkward stage where they are not little girls but they are also not women. I recommend avoiding short shorts – I have noticed a lot of girls wearing these and they are usually super unflattering because many of these tweens still have their baby tummies (which I find adorable). However, the combination of short shorts and tummy just does not look great. Most girls feel very self-conscious at this age so I imagine it is hard to get them to deviate from what other kids are wearing but dresses don’t break the body up into parts. Try to steer them towards leggings and loosely fitted tops which will allow them to be comfortable and stlyish.
